Brands

Goal

Maintain brand reference data used on product models (not on the SKU create form).

Who it is for

Catalog clerk with catalog.view to list; catalog.manage to create, edit, or delete.

Preconditions

• Products navigation available; brands are core catalog reference data.

Steps

1. Open Products → Brands.
2. Browse the list (Code, Name). Open a row for a read-only detail dialog when needed.
3. Choose New brand (catalog.manage).
4. Enter Code (required, max 64) and Name (translatable; default locale required).
5. Save. The brand appears on the list and can be selected on a product model’s brand field.
6. Edit or delete from the list actions (confirm remove). Deleting fails if the brand is still referenced by models — clear those links first.

Result

Brand codes are available for product models so SKUs inherit brand context through their model.

Hard stops

• Validation errors on blank code/name or duplicate code.
• Delete blocked while product models still reference the brand.

The list is a document workspace: queue tabs, search that applies when you choose Apply, and a side preview. Open goes to the full record when that page has one. Settings appears in the page actions when you can view that setup page.
