Work order and manufacturing setup

Goal

Configure tenant manufacturing policies and catalogs before running the shop floor.

Who it is for

manufacturing.admin for Manufacturing setup; planners with manage/produce for day-to-day masters.

Preconditions

  • Module manufacturing enabled.
  • GL system roles: WIP, inventory on hand, factory overhead, production variance.

Steps — Manufacturing setup

  1. Open Tax & Statutory → Manufacturing setup (nav label Manufacturing setup).
  2. Options
    • Work order release: Require BOM on WO release (default on), Require routing on WO release (default off) — enforced on Release.
    • Backflush & scrap: Enable backflush, Backflush on complete, Scrap requires reason, Allow co-products — stored for future shop-floor use; WO service today still uses explicit issue/complete.
    • MRP: MRP horizon (days).
    • Shop floor: Require operations complete before WO complete (stored), Allow partial material issue (enforced on partial issue payloads).
  3. Catalog tabs: WO statuses, Scrap reasons, Routing operation types (admin CRUD). Work-order transitions in the engine use fixed statuses planned/released/in_progress/completed/cancelled regardless of catalog labels.

Master-data order

Work centers → Routings → Active BOMs → Work orders. Use Material planning (manufacturing.plan) for make/buy suggestions.

Result

Release and issue behavior matches tenant policy; catalogs are available for labeling.
