Create a work order

Goal

Create a Planned work order from an Active BOM.

Who it is for

manufacturing.manage.

Preconditions

• Active BOM with ≥1 component line.
• Warehouse for issues and finished-goods receipt.
• Document numbering for type work_order configured if you rely on auto numbers.

Steps

1. Production → Work orders → New work order.
2. Select Bill of materials (active BOMs only, shown as item · version).
3. Choose Warehouse, Quantity (> 0), optional Planned start / Planned end.
4. Save. BlueMatrix copies item from the BOM, explodes materials (with scrap), and snapshots routing operations when the BOM has a routing.

Result

A Planned work order appears. Next: release and produce. There is no header update API after create — correct mistakes by cancelling (if no WIP cost) and recreating, or continue the lifecycle.

Hard stops

• The bill of materials must be active before it can be used on a work order.
• The bill of materials has no component lines.
• Quantity must be greater than zero.
